Counseling Information
Ask for free counseling from a SCORE® member whenever you are starting or expanding your business. Our counselors are knowledgeable in many small business fields. Many of our counselors have operated their own successful businesses. Others are former corporate executives, now retired.
Business counseling is FREE in East Central Iowa because our counselors volunteer their services.

There are 4 ways you can get free counseling from SCORE®
- Complete a Request for Counseling form that tells us the type of business you have or want to have and the particular business area in which you want assistance. Print the form or completed page and fax or mail it to SCORE® Cedar Rapids.
- Come to our office located with the Cedar Rapids Small Business Administration and talk with the on-duty counselor. No appointment is necessary.
- Telephone our ScoreCR office with a short question or to make an appointment to talk with the on-duty counselor.
- Online counseling through the national SCORE® at: www.score.org.
LOCAL COUNSELING
After SCORE® receives your Request for Counseling, a counselor(s), who has the experience that most closely parallels your needs, will be quickly selected to serve you. Your assigned SCORE® counselor may elect to call on other members for their special expertise.
The assigned counselor(s) will call you to make an appointment to meet with you personally to:
- Listen and analyze your problems.
- Help you find solutions.
- Review all of your business operations or just one segment of them.
Counseling may be one or several sessions. The amount of counseling depends on YOUR need until YOU are satisfied.
All information collected and dispensed is strictly confidential. Nothing is revealed to anyone outside of SCORE®.
ONLINE MENTORING
Online counseling is communicating with a SCORE® counselor via the Internet to get an answer to a business question. Go to: www.score.org. A person who has expertise in the matter will answer your question. This is the website of our SCORE® National Office. Many of our local counselors participate in this National online counseling.

A SCORE® volunteer can provide counseling details, answer questions or provide added details and information either by telephone or on a walk-in basis at the SCORE® office from 10 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, except on Federal holidays.
